Cockatiels
Cockatiels are one of the most popular family
pets and make one of the best pet birds due to their docile yet playful
nature. They are a good pets for supervised children who learn proper handling
techniques. There are several different color mutations to choose from. Life Span: 15-20 years with good diet and care Size: 11-13" inches General requirements & Care: The cage should be at
least 18"x14"x18" with no more than 1/2" bar width
spacing. Toys are a must and perch sizes, as with all birds, should be
varied to exercise the feet. These birds really enjoy cuddlebones as well.
They can be housed in a flight cage which they will enjoy.
Diet
should include some fresh fruits and vegetables such as apple (never include
the seeds, they're toxic), carrots, dark leafy greens, pasta, cooked brown
rice, legumes, small pieces of nuts, on a daily basis. Cockatiels do well
with a seed diet supplemented with the above items. There are also pellets
specially formulated for Cocktiels that may be considered.

Princess
of Wales
Beautifully colored, with a gregarious but gentle personality, these are
truly little "characters". You do not see these commonly but
they do make great pets if handled daily and given proper attention. They
love to forage and run around on the floor (take care not to step on them
though). They also make some of the cutest sounds a bird can make and although
they are generally considered a quiet bird, they may become a little loud
at times (but not as loud as Conures). They're a joy to watch! Life Span: 18-30 years Size: 12-16" from head to tail end General requirements & Care: The Princess of Wales
parakeet needs a large cage to accommodate its long tail. 1/2" bar
width is recommended. These birds especially enjoy a large flight cage,
but a cage 24"x20"x30" is suitable.
Provide a
diet that consists of a combination of both pellets and seeds as well as
fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, cooked brown rice, beans or pasta. Fresh
greens is especially favored.

if not given their own way. They are very mobile and unlike other Conure

they will whistle. They make great pets if kept tame by daily attention
and handling. They enjoy attention from their favorite person and love to
