DANGERS
IN THE HOUSEHOLD:
- Teflon coated
(non-stick coated) pots/pans/machine parts becoming overheated will produce
a poisonous gas that will kill birds in a matter of seconds.
- Take care with open
basins of water/open toilets/filled uncovered pots, etc.
- Never
paint or remodel with birds in the room. Put them far away from paint
odors, etc.!
- Flighted birds are
more apt to escape to the outside or fly into windows or walls.
Trimmed wings are not a guarantee that a bird can't fly away outside...they
can still get enough wind to fly into a tree and be lost.
- Swivel rockers,
rocking chairs, ceiling fans
- Don't EVER
trust a dog or cat to play with your bird. Even if they may seem to be
ok together, it's never a good idea to put your bird at risk. A dog might
not intend to harm a bird but could by accident.
- Poisonous plants
and flowers
- Cleaning products
- take care especially with aerosoles
- Hairspray, tobacco
smoke, any aerosole spray can harm a bird's lungs.
